Community Benefit Fund Round 4 2025
Local community groups are invited to apply for funding through the Capricornia Pumped Hydro Project Community Benefit Fund, which is open once again to support initiatives that make a positive impact in the Mackay Hinterland region.
Applications for this round of funding are open until 25 May 2025.
Project CEO John Carr said that the latest round of grants from the Pre-Construction Community Benefit Fund will provide meaningful support to community groups in the area.
“We want to support initiatives that enhance local sustainability, promote the region as a tourist destination, celebrate art, culture and history of the Traditional Owners, improve local amenities and help the community reduce its carbon footprint,” Mr Carr said.
“To date we have supported the Pioneer Valley Rail Trail strategic plan, Pioneer Catchment Landcare annual platypus count and Walk Through the Wilderness for Wellness project, Eungella Craft and Garden Group equipment purchase, and more.”
“While we seek public input during the development and approvals phase of the project, this fund is a way for us to give back and show our appreciation for the community’s willingness to give up their time to provide information, feedback and access. Should the project be approved, this is just the beginning of the support we will provide to the community.”
The Community Benefit Fund provides up to $50,000 annually to community initiatives located near the Capricornia Pumped Hydro Project including Nebo, Eungella, Finch Hatton, Mirani, Crediton and Dalrymple Heights. The full eligibility criteria are outlined in the Fund Terms of Reference on the project website.
Community groups can submit applications via the online application form available on the Community Benefits Fund page on the Capricornia website. Alternatively, community groups can contact our project team to have a copy of the application form sent via post.
Applications will be reviewed by a Community Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from across the local community. Successful recipients will be notified in June 2025.
